Newb, Trying to reuse LCD.

Hey all, been browsing the forums for a while looking for an answer to this question, but some of this seems a little over my head. I've had a Compaq IA-1 collecting dust for a while, and recently got the idea in my head to take it apart and try to reuse the LCD. Essentially what I want to know is if it is possible to either salvage parts from the unit itself, or buy (cheaply) necessary parts, to use the LCD as a standalone monitor. I'd like it accepting either DVI or SVGA input (my MacMini's forms of output). I've seen some things about LVDS, with which I'm fairly unfamiliar. If it can be done cheaper than buying an LCD monitor I'll do it. I also have some electrical whizkids who could help me out, perks of being at a major engineering school. Any advice from you all would be fantastic.

Thanks,
JD

I would have to say I doubt it, i've seen the question a thousand times in relation to old laptop screens, and the cost of the controller card you need is more than you can find a used 15"lcd for on ebay, a lot more. As i normally have 2 or 3 laptops kicking around at any given moment, i looked into it quite a bit, you're better off to sell of the IA and put the money toward a new LCD from a company like tiger direct that usually has some LCD or other really cheap after Mail in rebate.
