Hotfire PC's has been selling A/C adapters on eBay that are compatible with the CF-01's. The ad has the following text:

Panasonic TuffBook AC Adapter NR BUY
Description
This a Panasonic Toughbook AC Adapter for the P166 CF-25 model. It does work with many others though. Please email me with any questions before bidding not after. Buyer agrees to pay 9.50 S/H Cont. USA

I just recieved one today and it is very nice. It is rated exactly like the ones that came with the CF-01 (15.1v, 2.6a). It is about 2/3 of the size of the stock adapter. I'm not associated with Hotfire other than being a happy customer.

In fact, I am sharing the CF-01 and Stylistic 1200 AC adapters. They have same size of plug, though 1200's is 16V, I guess it is won't kill CF-01 by giving 6% more voltage( I trust Japanese, CF-01 should tolerate +10% ~ -10% voltage).

Any recommendations for a car adapter?
What are the benefits/detriments of a DC power adapter for the car over a DC to AC power inverter that would require use of the CF-01's AC plug?
Also looking for same for Webplayer and ePods.

Do a search on this string:

"Panasonic TuffBook AC Adapter NR BUY"

This should turn up multiple auctions. I won my action at $20. It looks like current auctions are going for more (~$45). Shipping is expensive at $9.50 so factor that into your bid.

The ad for my auction said the adapter was for a CF-25. There is another guy that is selling an adapter which may also work. Search for this string:

"MEGA Panasonic ToughBook AC Adapter + FREE"

You could probably win this at the starting bid of $35. I do NOT know if this will work. It looks to be bigger than the adapter that I bought. Shipping on this adapter is even more expensive at $15.00.

There may be other auctions that have adapters that work. Any of the Panasonic adapters at 15.1v and at least 2.6 amps should work fine.

There are also quite a few Toshiba and Compaq A/C adapters that can meet the voltage and current requirements. However, these will not have the "panasonic proprietary" plug. I have been looking for these plugs/jacks with no luck. If we could find these plugs a whole world of cheaper adapters will open up. If you know of where to get them please reply here.
