A few Questions
Some questions on the CF-01

I have a few questions.
Forgive me if they are ignorant.

It is my understanding that the CF-01 has no sound card, but it does have an internal speaker (doesnt it?)
If this is the case, would it be possible to cut the wires to the speaker and wire them to a headphone jack instead?

And has anyone tried to partition the hard drive? I would expect this was possible unless there is some unusual reason why not. This could be used to create "virtual cd drives" by copying the contents of a CD to a partition. I have done this before on my PC and the partition was treated as a CD. This would allow the use of programs that require the CD.

No sound card, no wave output, even you cut the wires and connect them to the headphone, you can only hear plain "Doo" or "Bee" sound. I know there is a shareware called SpkQQ which can output wave to PC speaker
http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/win31/hardware/se007505.html It comes from the same author of WinGroove. I haven't send my money to bus_depot yet, so there is no way to try it on my CF-01 which is still in bus_depot's hand :) The latest version of SpkQQ is 3.41 but in Japanese I think, the latest English version is 3.33 and you can get it from the net if you take sometime to search.

There are a lot of programs can do "virtual CD drives", you don't have to create another partition, the programs can create the CD image as a file. In fact, if you have the network, just create and store the CD images on the server machine and share the cd image files to CF-01 so it won't use any HD space on CF-01 except the "virtual cd" program itself.

Here is a link that I found regarding a pc speaker to wave output. http://www.agsci.kvl.dk/~jerejej5/pcspeak.htm

Guys do not get too excited the sound is very muffled but at least it is more than a beep and its free.
