Text entry

I recently got a CF-01 and still getting the hang of using it. I cannot figure out how to enter text in some cases. For instance, in a text entry box on a web page in Internet Explorer. I touch in the box and the cursor sits there and blinks and the little pen icon appears, plus I can even write in it, but the writing does not convert to actual text (the written character just disappears). There's no "A" icon for the keyboard or the little double arrow that usually appears when text is entered.

How the heck do I enter text in these cases? I've tried running the keyboard utility, but nothing typed there gets entered into the text box.

One last question... how does one "press" ENTER? For example, I can write a URL in IE's address box, but no way to press ENTER to actually go to the URL (yes, I know I can click on GO).

I've had similar troubles (recently with the Network dialog box, actually I think it was the DNS field) which caused enough frustration that I re-loaded Pen Services. Did not help. Must be some situations where Pen Services simply does not work? Can someone here with more Pen experience comment please?

The Opera browser has an 'Enter' button right next to the url box, that's what most people use and have no problems.
Also, look for keyboard program threads around here regarding typing in the url address. I don't think there is a solution for the handwriting recognition.

You can replace the Micro$oft HWR with one from CIC. This doesn't solve the Internet Explorer problems (no "A" button in the text entry fields), but it does have better recognition AND it has gestures! This includes the "enter" gesture (a backwards "L") which works in the URL box.

It's available from the Fujitsu support site for the Stylistic 500, but I've installed it on my CF-01 and I'm using it right now.

Get it here.

It`s under the "Drivers" section. The readme.txt has detailed instructions.

Also, I keep the "writing palette" open in the background for cut&paste into text entry fields.

Thanks for the heads up on the Stylistic 500 driver. I'm downloading it as we speak. As for "ENTER" in the URL text entry box, I.E. has a "Go" button which is the same as pressing ENTER, but I was just wondering if there wasn't some way to actually 'press' ENTER. I've also done my share of cutting and pasting to get text into something when I can't write it directly.

You can also use the file-open command on your browser menu to open a web page.
