A few questions:

I d/l and installed Opera 6 but it does not integrate with pen services? Any ideas?
I previously used IE 3 with no problem.
Anyone using a better alternative to pen services?

Battery questions:
1. While using battery power - I don't even get one hour of usage? What is your experience?
2. After charging to max of 95% (it never shows 100%) and leaving CF-01 off, it discharges fully in about 4-5 days?

Dickie

Other:
1.Is there any way to use a keyboard and mouse together with the docking station?
2. Has anyone figured out a way to see the screen in daylight?

Dickie: I can't help you with your "main" questions, but I can help with the "other" questions.

I use the keyboard/mouse with the CF-01 all of the time. My dock is connected to a KVM. I have also used a keyboard/mouse connected directly to the dock. I have a few mice that do not work. I'm not sure why. I also get a error message when the CF-01 boots with a mouse attached. I'm not sure about this either. You may want to try a different mouse.

I built a hood for my CF-01 for use on my boat. This works OK (just barely). I have posted about this solution in the past. There is not much that can be done to make the screen directly readable in direct sunlight. I've been looking for alternative display options (transflective, TFT) for the CF-01. So far I haven't found any.

If you want, I can take a picture of my hood setup and put it on my website.

I haven't put Opera 6 on my CF yet, but remeber it is in beta so it could be a problem with the new version. Run 5.12 and it works great. Unfortuantely there is still no option other than pen services to enable pen usage but you can use Pen Office for everything else.

I get about 2-3 hours of usage from my CF after a full charge, you may have a bad battery. I am trying out Waterfall Pro in order to see if it extends my battery life I will let you know when I have enough data.

And yes it will discharge completely after a week or so even when fully powered off.

I broke the screen on one of my units so I will be dissection it to find the power hungry devices in the off mode. Probably a really bad RTC or something.

Opera 6 has been out of beta for several days; in fact, I'm using the gold code to type this.

I agree with Glitch on the hood requirement. My hood is made out of a file folder and velcro. I purchased my CF-01 to use as a GPS map device in the car. The screen is marginal for this use. I had a Philips NINO a couple of years ago, also with the same dtsn screen. There was a program available called colour ME, allowing changes of screen colors within programs. I've tried different settings on the CF-01, I think the best desktop for the car is black background giving the best contrast to see icons. The problem is that the map software defaults to it's color and makes it hard to see. I've not found a solution, I'll also request suggestions. FYI, The screen and GPS work great at night.

I stand corrected, the official Opera 6 was released the day before I responded. That will teach me to not check for software updates everyday.

Thanks for the responses.

Does anyone else have the same anemic battery life that I have?

Has anyone found a replacement battery?

Thanks,
Dickie

You might want to find the Battery thread and bump it again. I haven't heard of anyone finding a source for these; a couple of people have apparently gotten lucky but that's it. Others have discussed refurbishing their batts w/new cells, or even commissioning new batts to be built, but no one to my knowledge has actually taken action...
