OK - before I pull all my hair out...I just got the CF-01. Love it, aside from the fact I can't get it connected to my network.
I'm trying to install a Orinoco Wireless Network card with no success. I've been messing around with various settings so I may have messed up Win95 by now. Wondering if there's a way to install a Service Pack or something to bring it back to it's original form?
As of now, when the Network card is in and the CF-01 is sitting on the dock, it doesn't even recognize that there is a card in the computer; however, when it's off the docking station it does show up in the lower right corner.
I spend about 12 hours troubleshooting and then thought perhaps it's a bad card. It took 10 minutes to get it working on a Win2000 computer.
When I go into Control Panel | System | Device Manager, there's an exclamation point on the adapter icon and it reads: Device failure: Try changing the driver for this device. If that doesn't work, see your hardware documentation. (code 2).
So I put the drivers on a 3 1/2" disk. Try to UPDATER DRIVER, browse the disk for the appropriate directory where the driver is located and sometimes it just says I need to restart the computer without even reading from the disk or it pulls the driver and other files and then asks me to insert Win95 for a variety of other files. Unfortunately, the computer doesn't come with a disk for Win95 and I didn't create the requested 31 disks.
Also, When I try to go to a Dos command prompt and type winipcfg.exe, I get a Fatal Error. This was working the first time I tried it - so something in the software may have gotten messed up during all my troubleshooting.
Any ideas? Help - I'm only 28 and going bald fast.
