Remote power switch

I am placing my CF-01 in a wall mount. With the problems with the backlight not being controllable I have thought about bringing the power switch out of the unit to a small pushbutton (maybe the reset switch also.

I have opened the case (partially) so I do not think I will have a problem.

Has anyone done this? And if so do they have any hints, tips, advice.

PS Has the backlight problem been solved under win98? By that I mean either it turning off in suspend, or better still the necessary api driver calls to do it on demand. Yes, I have searched the threads and I do not see an answer to this.

I have not been able to resolve the backlight issue with my CF-01 ( Original hardware config running Win98SE ). I worked on this for about a month, reading all the "answers", fixes, video driver tweaks, etc. posted on this board, but none of them worked for my setup. I even tried a program somebody wrote that was supposed to turn off the backlight when you ran it ( backlight.exe, or something like that ), but that didn't work either. I was never able to get the backlight to turn off in Powersaver mode. The CF-01 Operaters Manual specifies that in Powersaver mode, the unit is still powered, but the screen is blanked out and the backlight is supposed to be turned off. In Powersaver mode, you can touch the screen and the screen reappears instantly. I assumed this never worked for me because I upgraded the OS to Win98SE. I have had to settle for setting the unit up to suspend after 5 minutes, after which the unit powers down completely. When it powers back up, the unit returns to the screen/application that was active when the unit suspended.

I'd love to get a look at your proposed mods for the power switch. I plan on installing my CF-01 in-dash in my conversion van, and I have a need for a remote power switch as well.
