GPS Report

I just got back from the maiden voyage of the CF-01 as GPS moving map machine. Here's what I used:

* CF-01 with Win98
* Delorme Street Atlas v8.0 (installed with the extractor and the help of one of the cdrom emulators)
* Garmin eMap via serial port (note you can -carefully- remove the serial port door on the CF)
* Linksys Power2Go Power Inverter (not strictly needed, but a potentially good toy at $50 from Office Depot, probably can be had for lower online)
* $10 suction-cup Radar Detector mount rigged to hold the CF on my Dashboard

It worked like a charm, screen updates while not super fast were quite reasonable. The screen *is* dim, so I had to do a bit of fiddling to get an acceptable angle away from sunlight and good screen contrast.

That's it for now, I figured someone else out there might be planning a similar setup. The next big challenge is dealing with all the wires... and setting up a wireless network in the car between the CF and a laptop to play mp3s...
