Has anyone tried anything DirectX on this machine?
Will DirectX games work, are there supported video drivers?
How about sound, does that Panasonic PCMCIA sound card support DirectX?

I know in theory that it should, as it's a part of Windows. I was just wondering if the oddities of such things like PCMCIA sound were supported...

DirectX 8 refused to install. It complained that dx8 was for Pentium class or higher computers. Not sure about previous dx versions. Anyone else try?

I was thinking more like DirectX5 or DirectX6.

I installed whatever version of DirectX ships with Starcraft (I think it was 5) and it runs pretty good.

Whoa, Starcraft works!? (or just the DX with it?)

Does sound work on that PCMCIA sound card?

yeah, starcraft works fairly well. The only part that didn't play well was the intro, where it says blizzard. everything after that was pretty smooth, including sounds on the PCMCIA sound card. I found it hard to play the game with the pen though, you have to click on the small map to change the big screen position.
