|My CF-01 drops to hibernate mode just fine when the "moon with M" icon is selected from the unit's control panel. I checked the Programs/Utility/System Setup/Power Management dialog box, and confirmed that the "Enable Battery/AC" option was selected. I assume this setting should allow the unit to go into hibernate mode whether running off the battery or AC power.|
Most CF-01er's posting here appear to have been able to resolve the hibernation glitch. Real bugger this one...I may be forced into wiping the unit clean (again) and re-installing the original Win95 config just so I can get the thing to hibernate properly. Wish there were another way, especially since I finally got DCOM set up and working on the CF-01 with Win98SE. I've tried all the recommended fixes from this/other BBS', and nothing seems to affect the hibernate behavior. No matter what hibernate time-out settings I use, the thing just drops into stand-by ( cursor flashing in upper left hand corner of blank screen, power on, backlight on ) when the stand-by timeout is reached, and stays in that state indefinitely.
Kinda reminds me of that scene in "Last of The Mohicans", where Daniel Day Lewis says "No matter what occurs, stay alive !......"
P.S. : Last night, just for kicks, I decided to disable stand-by altogether, and left hibernate enabled with a 5 minute timeout. After 5 minutes nothing happened, but after about 20 minutes, the unit went into it's stand-by mode ! I am thoroughly confused....
I also noticed that there is another Windows Power Management utility in Settings/Control Panel. Wondered if the settings here ( e.g., Laptop/Desktop/Always on ) might interfere with the Panasonic System Utilities power management settings (?)...anyone got any ideas on this?
....I will never surrender
