Has anyone had any experience installing ME on the CF-01? I know that 95 and 98 are supported but is ME? Most 98 drivers are supported by ME which make me think it is possible. I would just like to know if anyone has tried it yet. I have all my Computers running ME and would like to standardize.
I just tried installing WinME on a Thinkpad notebook with a Pentium 120, and it wouldn't let me run setup because (according to the start-up message) WinME requires at least a P-150, so I doubt you can install it on the CF-01 (which, if I recall correctly, is only a 5x86).
I think there may be a command line option for the "setup" command that skips the processor speed check. I'm only about 70% sure about this, but it may be worth a quick web search.Glitch
Electronics run on smoke, if you let the smoke out they won't work
Yes, I believe there is a folder with OEM stuff. There is an OEM installer that may work, it's not the fancy graphical one you get when you do a regular setup. Give that a try.
I am currently running Win98ME on my cf-01, I used 98lite chubby install onto a 6gb hard drive. The performance seems to be about the same as the previous win98 install. The main issue I am having is that the 32mb ram upgrade video driver problem cannot at this time be resolved using Scitech Display Doctor because of the way ME is handling Dos. I will keep playing with it for a while and if successful will post results.
As a side note the 32md came from a Dell laptop by way of Ricoh G-1200s unit. The original 16 mb from the Cf-01 is now quite happy living in my Fujitsu point 510 which requires either edo or fast page. (Bios is set to Edo).
If you have a ME upgrade cd and a cd to run it from, type the following after you cancil the auto set up. Go to Start, Run and type. d:\setup /nm and it will ignore the cpu check, good luck
