Well I hated to see this area vacant, so here's a link I've frequented: http://www.kronosrobotics.com

Put one of these http://www.linux-hacker.net/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=RG&Post=4
on top of that roomba!
Then add a webcam and just plug it into the wireless router.

Nuts-and-Volts magazine has a great series started about one robot builder's most recent project, a biped walker. I was investigating the amount of effort and $$$ involved, and found that the bottom half alone required 22 high-torque servos at about $40 each - OUCH! It's still a darned fine effort, and worthy of mention and research.

Well, still not much chatter, so here go some of my "favorite links"

Mouser Electronics - Anybody that sends you a 1.5" thick catalog of component goodness for free, has reasonable prices, and no minimum order is a great place in my book >:) http://www.mouser.com/catalog

BG Micro - Another frequent electronics stop for me. 12v 7.5ah batteries for $6 - Yum http://www.bgmicro.com

Marlin P. Jones and Associates - Was a local electronics shop before I moved - it's where I got my paws on my first solenoids (that weren't hand-wound) and peltiers.. Ahh, memories... $15 minimum order. http://www.mpja.com

Pololu Robotics and Electronics - Free shipping, no minimum ordr. Good place to get parts for small 'bots, and electronics for medium sized 'bots. Has a lot of good stuff for those new to 'bot-building. http://www.pololu.com

I saw that walker in N&V - I was always a fan of the "chicken walker" bipeds, also need fewer servos.. I'm probably gonna break down & get a subscription of N&V and Servo - always full of good stuff.

Long time 'bot builder/lurker/old fogey.

Well I can't say anything good about MPJA. I ordered a PIC programmer from them, received a confirmation email, then nothing for 2 weeks. I emailed them several times about the order, no reply. Looks dead to me, Jim. :)
