The default driver loaded by xp pro works
(except that the sound is nearly inaudible from headphones or unpowered speakers; does the netier have an unamplified audio out?
That'd actually be a good thing for my intended use), but visiting Windows update
gets you a new driver; the Avance AC97 for VIA Audio, which enables more functionality.
Neither the windows update version, nor the latest version (2.9) available from the Avance.com website works for me though; I get the "Device cannot start (error 10)" message.
I tried the VIA driver, both v220a and v220b, and they result in reboots and system crashes when installing.
Anybody else run into this? I'm stumped at the moment:
1. VIA 4-in-1 drivers didn't help.
2. Disabling USB, serial, and parallel didn't help.
3. Slowing the CPU(multiplier and/or bus speed) didn't help.
4. Enabling legacy audio support didn't help.
