Well, I ended up buying a 1000xl and mine came with the standard 48mb DoC and 64mb ram, 300mhz k6-2 underclocked to 250mhz. When upgrading memory in one of my other machines tonight I tested the netier and a 256mb stick came up fine. The trick would be to find a 256mb stick that's under 1" high I suppose, but for my purposes I'll probably never need anywhere near that amount of ram.
I was half asleep the other night when I made this post, the rest of what I meant to say is that the theoretical max amount of ram on at least this 1000xl should be 512mb. Has anyone tried a 512mb stick? Also, has anyone found a source for sticks of ram that are under 1" high on these?
