Hey, i know this board is kinda old but im sure someone still looks right? Anyway, i just bought an XL2000 on ebay and im kind of stuck. My problem is that i have a laptop HDD, but i have no 44pin ide cable. I cant buy one from cablesonline.com becuase i have no credit cards :( what should i do? Also, can anyone tell me if the DVD decoder chip in the netier is any good?
IOEvan: Try Jack at www.badflash.com (email). I'm sure that he can make the cable. He will probably be your best bet for flexible payment options. Good luck.Glitch
Electronics run on smoke, if you let the smoke out they won't work
Badflash only takes credit cards or paypal also... Does anyone have one they would sell to me???, that would be really awsome. Or maybe someone could explain how to flash a DOC over a network. I read thinclient 1 and 2 and PXE still confuses me...
Oh well, I'm not in the business of making cables but if you're interested and you can't find nobody else that doesn't accept credit cards let me know and I will make one for you for $8 + actual USPS shipping charges. I've done several before and I'm pretty good at it now. I can take USPS money order or cashiers check if you wish. I will also test it and guarantee it as not DOA (not dead on arrival). If interested please send e-mail to xucrute2003@NOSPAM.hotmail.com (take out the NOSPAM. part). Thanks.
Is it possible to boot from an external floppy or zip drive? This would go a long way to getting an image onto the DOC. Another question; can an ISA card and PCI card at the same time (XL2000)?There's not enuough room in the Power Supply for a gerbil (O_o) How does that work?
You can use a floppy but you need a special kind of cable to use a slim floppy drive (like the one's used on notebooks) it is called an FFC/FPC 26 pin connector. I think there is an option in the BIOS that says LS120 Zip, but I don't know if this means a USB version. As for using an ISA and PCI card I believe you would need to purchase a riser card that has both of these connections. But using this riser might not let you put the cover back on, I believe the computer was made to hold one card if you are going to use the case.
