Boot Windows

New MessageBoot Windows (modified 0 times) KLutes
I think the idea of booting the OS and apps from a CDROM is pretty cool -- lots of space and cheap to make and distribute. I'm wondering if I could make own Win98 boot CD that contains the OS and apps I use. I'd connect it to my home LAN for data storage.

In my case, I'm hoping to set up a "kitchen PC" for my wife to use to surf, email, word processing, and home finances.

Anyone know if this is possible?

Windows is probably not doable on the NIC without hacking in a hard drive. It loves chewing up swap space whether it needs it or not, and with 64MB of RAM and 4MB of flash disk, it's gonna die pretty early on in the boot process.

Nobody has these yet, of course, except for 2 people who won the Amazon auction, so it'll be some time to figure out how easy it'll be to hack some disk into 'em, and so on.
