Unlocked BIOS?

I know this question has been posted before, but as the links to these files at thinknic are now dead, I was wondering where I might be able to obtain the last version (or just best version) of the BIOS which has all settings unlocked.

I'm running a K6-2 550mhz with the board set at 75mhz. If I can unlock the multiplier and set it for 2x (which the K6-2 sees as 6x) I'll have a nice little 450mhz box.

Also, I think I have found a solution for using standard-height DIMMs in the nIc for anyone really good with a soldering iron:

http://www.meritec.com/Pages/products/dimm/Dimm25.html

This is a DIMM socket the allows the DIMM to lay over at 25 degrees from the board. So on the nIc, the DIMM would just stick out under the CD ROM. It will hit the bottom of the power switch, but the switch can be rotated out of the way. Like I said, anyone comfortable with small device soldering should be able to pull this off.

Any help with the BIOS issue would be greatly appreciated!

Contact me off line and I'll e-mail you the bios file. Mine is unlocked. I'm running at 75X6.

I als use the trick of putting foam on the top and side of the power supply to force the airflow out of the box through the power supply. The CPU overheats if you don't because the air just recirculates.

Hello,
I'm another seeker after unlocked Thinknic BIOS. I have an older Nic that is unlocked and I'm trying to unlock the BIOS of a newer Nic, that belongs to my parents, so they can run a K6-3 type cpu in it. I downloaded bios.iso from Wim Coekaerts personal webpages, but I don't have any success creating a disk with it to flash the BIOS.
Perhaps it is not the right BIOS file anyway? I can't tell anything about a version number from it.

Then there is the matter of burning it correctly. I have heard it's necessary to burn it under some windows cdr utility. I have tried "Blindwrite" (among others) in a couple different modes (SAO cooked and DAO PW) with my DAO-capable Yamaha scsi burner --but I've gotten no indications that the Nic system will see any DOS system on it.
I don't understand much at all about cdwriting besides normal iso9660 images nor do I have a good grasp on I'm supposed to do to unlock the BIOS.

ANy help appreciated immensely --Thanks.

If you use an award flash utility you can copy the good file to disk and then flash it on another unit. I can also send you an unlocked file if you want to e-mail me.
