I have to admit, I never heard of these things until just a few days ago when I walked into a local thrift store and bought one for $35 complete with 15" NIC branded Monitor and keyboard and version 2.0 of the OS.....Now, I am scouring the Internet for images of custom CDs people have made and how-to's for doing everything from booting by PXE Linux and Windows and whatever cool thing I can find (couldn't someone please update the NIC MP3 player CD so it doesn't stop playing in the middle of a song?) why aren't there more places to download images? and since the thinknic site has been gone for a good while now, I can't even download ISOs of the original CDs (I hear there is a 3.0 Beta, but can't find it anywhere.....) I'm also looking for some sort of BIOS update (or downgrade) that will allow me to use my AMD K6-2 333Mhz CPU at full speed.... and a question about that, if I downgrade and set my CPU up, will it go back to the 3x default, or lock at the new setting? Anyone in the State of Va. (or close by) looking to unload some of these machines, feel free to contact me, I would love to convince my boss how much these things could simplify Network Management and backups on his little office network. Especially since I'd be able to set his old machines up as a beowulf Cluster or similar shared processing setup and greatly increase the overall processing power available to all of his employees, especially the poor Cad guy. Not to mention, I could wean him off Bill Gate's teat while still allowing him to access the Windows Apps he still needs in order to run his business.

Sorry for going way out in left field there.... I hope someone out there is able to help me out...

Hi there Paradox,

Just swung by after being away a few months, and no, not at the Governments pleasure! :)

If you check out the wayback machine, there a whole raft of sifting you can do, but here's what I found...

The last CD (and Bios) images are mirrored here:

http://public.www.planetmirror.com/pub/thinknic/

and the wayback machine holds archived website data here:

http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.thinknic.com

with the GPL pathes and source here:

http://web.archive.org/web/20011031172635/www.thinknic.com/about/cdimages.html

Hope that helps.

Have fun!
