Still a bit puzzled...I don't think you'll find too many OSs that can fit on a CF. BeOS and Linux, but getting WinME (read my other posts to find out why you don't want to use W98) is gonna be impossible I think unless you use 98lite and get a 128mb CF, but that twice the price of a small HGD, so...

These would work great for a PC where you want fast and silent disk access. It would be more tolerant of heat as well.
Specific to the Gateway touchpad, the adapter would also be invaluable in placing an alternate OS on the CF card, and do other tricks that a standard USB or parallel reader aren't cabable of.

hum..ok, what kind of tricks do you have in mind ?
The problem right now (no access to BIOS) is that plugging in the CF makes the HD unusable. So if you want to have both, you're going to have to crank the thing open each time you want to boot from the CF...
Actually I've got a Dual CD to IDE adapter, i.e. I can put two CF on the same card. Don't know if both cards are recognized though.
