Ok. This Touch pad deal is shipped running a linux OS...the distro is Midori Linux. To do any hacking of the OS (per Midori's site), you will need to have a host system running RH 6.2 (or earlier) with Bash 1.0 as the shell. Then you can hack it around all you want, get the boot disk (CF card) loaded the way you want, pop it back into the CTP and you're up and running. You should in theory be able to run just about any linux based ap on this thing. It ships running the newest version of Mozilla (the engine behind Netscrape 6). What I plan on doing with mine when I get it is hack the thing enough to get AOL out of the way, connect it as an X terminal to my main system and run most of the programs remotely on the other machine (see the HOWTO's at http://www.linux.org under the documents page for details). I was toying around with it, but scoffed at the $500 price. Since someone helped me out here by posting the quote at $199...I had to jump at it.
