how to set CF partition active

I already asked this question in another thread, but no one knew the answer. I have a CF card all set up to boot, but the partition isn't set active so it won't boot. I have a USB -> CF adapter and PCMCIA->CF adapter, but I can't get either of them to see the CF in fdisk. Any suggestions?

Windows ME should work (go figure) at least it does for my USB Sandisk reader. The only thing is you must boot up with the CF inserted in the reader.

As far as setting the CF partition active I use Ranish Partition Manager http://www.ranish.com/ to set it active as normal Windoze OS will not allow you to have but one disk "active".
