I have been able to get the palmconnect (for palm pilot) to install
at com3 on my gct for use with a gps. The kit is pretty
inexpensive (30.00) and probably more available than other
serial to usb adapters. There is a bit of a trick to installing it.
1. DO NOT Plug The Adapter In yet
2. copy one way or another the files and directories from the cd
that came with the adapter to a directory on the gct. i suspect
a network share to the cd or directory with the files would also work.
3. download the palm desktop and install it.

4. plug in the adapter, when the system recognizes the adapter
and asks for the location of the driver files point it to the
directory or share with the cd's files. the installation of the
driver will complete at this point.
5. you may want to reboot just for the hell of it.
6. go to control panel > add/remove programs and uninstall
palm desktop.
the adapter should have installed at com3
I tested the adapter with hyper terminal set to direct to com3
9600,n,8,1 none and it worked fine with my gps (garmin) which
was set to the same com setting and text out.
if anyone is interested I have 2 DLink DHN-120 USB phoneline adapters
and 1 DHN-910 Kit that consists of 2 PCI adapters. I believe they are
HPNA but have not really checked it out. These have been sitting in
the trunk of my car for a while and if anyone is interested
in them let me know. I know a number of people have ordered
the GCT with HPNA and might have use for them, but, you are going
to have to check into the compatibility of these adapters. My
GCT's are all ethernet. Incidentally the GCT's work GREAT with
Linksys USB Wireless adapters (WUSB11).
