It's been stated that you have 30 days to swap a hpna adapter for ethernet if you want that, and that customer service can help you; If you did this, who did you call/what did you do? I seem to have lost, got the "duh" answer; They had no idea what I was talking about. Just keep trying until I get someone who can help me? A different number i should call?

5 transfers later i was told i'd have to send the whole machine back. I'm trying my sales rep, otherwise, I guess the swap doesn't work.

That's what they told me too when I changed my mind and tried to get one of mine on order changed from HPNA to ethernet.

I just bought a Netgear ethernet to HPNA bridge, I haven't had a chance to test it, but if it works ok, I will have a ethernet card that I would be willing to swap for a HPNA. Give me a few days to check it out and if HPNA works like they say it does I will be willing to make a trade.

Gateway gave me the runaround as well when I asked about the swap. I'm not the original owner, swap is only good for 30 days, transferred here and there, blah, blah, blah . . . They really don't seem to know too much about this machine.

If anybody else wants to swap, you can have my HPNA adapter. I'm using a USB ethernet adapter right now but would love an internal mini pci ethernet card.

Folks,
I ordered my GCT from Gateway 10 days ago (Ethernet version) and yesterday it
finaly arrived. When I opened the box, for my surprise, it was the HPNA version.
Since then, tried to contact the guys at Gateway twice (two different reps) and
the answer was the same: Gateway doesn't have Ethernet version anymore. I personaly
find it difficult to believe this... Anyway, their default answer now is that they
are out-of-stock on the Ethernet version.
What I really find amazing is how they change the model I ordered WITHOUT my
knowledge - they could at least have dropped me a short email: "don't have anymore,
want the HPNA?" - or called and left a message for me - anything... But they changed
my order and just shipped to me the wrong version. That's what means to care for the
customer, eh? Anyway, now I will try to contact them to see if they can - at least -
change the internal miniPCI card for me and put a Ethernet instead of the HPNA. If
not, I will think seriously about returning the unit and buying a new one at eBay...

About two months ago, Gateway pulled them from their site all-together. I think that was an announcement of the end. I'm sure their agreement with AOL may have played a role in returning them to their site and perhaps with the current climate of internet appliances and Gateway, they are only limited to what is in stock.

Just my opinion.

(I got mine about 6 months ago, ethernet ready.)
