Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has, or knows of a website that provides directions for modifying GCTPs so that you can make them into general purpose computers. Thanks for the help.

Are you serious???
THIS IS THE WEBSITE!
PLEASE USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!

Perhaps you are looking for THIS WEBSITE?

You need to pop out the Compact Flash, solder in an IDE header, get the proper cable and add a laptop hard drive (with a minor modification to the shielding).

Both BigDog and BubbaDog56 will solder in and IDE header for a small fee. Contact them for prices.

All drivers are at Freedrive
userid: GCTP
password: gctp

If you are looking for any further modifications
PLEASE USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!

The hack is REALLY simple, so don't sweat it, just take your time. This is the right section for all the details. I have cables if you need them.

BigDog, Bubbadog56, if you guys are selling cables let me know and I'll refer them to you. I've got enough going on if you guys want the GCT stuff.

Sorry, Mike G. I didn't mean to be so hard on a newbie.
But, I actually did answer your question :)

This board seems a little more disoriented than some of the others.
A lot of discontinued and re-started threads.
Took me a while to sort it all out too.

Take your time, read thru the threads, and feel free to ask us for help anytime :)

Jack,

I believe BigDog is doing cables also, I'm just soldering for now....

B'Dog

P.S. - The iO parts showed up yesterday, thanks for the great deal. Now I can get the K6-450 running and speed things up a bit. I want to use this in the car, the GCT is now the official 'kitchen PC'. Gonna pick up a PalmConnect USB/serial cable for using the iO with my GPS system, if it works that'll save me the trouble of the serial mod board.

ombuman-

Glad to have another IA owner! Welcome to an awesome board... we have quite a few very talented hardware and software engineers contributing to the discussions.

Keep an eye out on http://www.linux-hacker.net/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=aolgw&Post=60&Idle=0&Sort=0&Order=Descend&Page=0&Session=wireless.99529778952164

chaezewhiz and I have been pounding on 2 separate distributions (midori and jailbait, respectively) for the GCT. I hope to make my version available with some instructions (both user and developer) soon. Incremental updates hopefully will follow often from others as well as myself.

Yes but you need to have an ide header soldered onto the motherboard. Unless you have an early unit that already has one.

You also need a special cable which you can probably get from Badfalsh.

All drivers are at Freedrive

I'm having problems logging into Freedrive. Am I suppose to be logging under the Workgroup area?

Just got an Gateway AOL CTP and I'm looking to hack it. Any estimates on parts cost to get this thing "functional"?

Thank you
