Is there any good software out there that would make the GCT a good finger-operated jukebox?

I haven't found any, so I have begun work on an mp3 player that will be oriented toward finger operation. Big buttons, large fonts for easy song selection on the playlist, etc. It's for Windows. Anyone else here interested in such a thing?

well other than running WINAMP in "big" mode (hit CTRL+D) , I havent really seen any "touchscreen" type software out there. I remember a guy on the I-opener thread actually made a program that was larger and displayed info...do a search for mp3 frontend or Mp3 application in the I-opener threads. Maybe you wont have to program it yourself...Also check out this old thread

There are also these two Linux based MP3 players.
Cajun:
http://cajun.sourceforge.net/
and Route66:
http://www.anders.com/projects/route66/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/route66/

You could modify them use the GCT touchscreen for input and the GCT lcd for output. I would love to mount my GCT in my car for playing MP3's.

I've been using Sonique with the Sony CD looking skin on mine at work and it works fiarly well. I would like to see something that had maybe larger text (gettin a little older) and bigger buttons that are easier to hit. I'd definitly be interested in it SiliconIce...
Chaos, panic, and disorder... My work here is almost done...

It's really ugly right now, I have to work on layout and graphics. It is playing well, got playlists working, a shuffle mode, the basics. I'll upload it somewhere when it looks more presentable...

Unfortunately, my GCT screen seems not to work well. Much harder to use (even with pen) than either my ePods or CF-01. When I click in one place, the mouse likes to skip to other parts of the screen about half the time (usually up and to the right). I have calibrated over and over...is this common?

Silicon Ice, Id like to get a copy of that when you put it up. Just mail me (in my profile).

about your GCT touchscreen, Maybe this will help, I cant get it pixel-perfect but the diff is only about
3-4 mm at worst. Other than that its perfect. Try these settings:

LeftTopValue= 216
Left bottom=106
Right top=3996
Right bottom=4040

I noticed I was having problems calibrating and then I realized I was clicking too far into the corners of the the Touchscreen. I think the LCD borders (corners of display, not physical screen) should be the edges.
Make sure the MK712 software is set to Cursor, and that Draw mode is set to ClearDraw. Im using ICS MK712 ver1.01.

Try BeoPlayer from beoplayer.com made by Bang & Olufsen. very simple mp3 player plain black screen pops up from the sides of the screen (can be locked in place on screen) most of the controls are pretty large, some however are kinda small.

Only major problem no downloadable .exe, you have to install it online.

I have uploaded a build of my finger-operated mp3 player.

You can get it here: http://www.siliconice.net/progmain.shtml

It needs some of the same .dlls as Windows Media Player, so if you are using 98Lite you may need to add those by installing that.

A note, the appearance leaves much to be desired, I know. But it has large, easy to use buttons and an easy way to select songs. And it works ok. I will be working on appearance. Let me know what you think!

I like the idea of a touch screen mp3 player and I think that SiliconIce's is a great way to get basic mp3 playing done. I'm working on a interface/skin for Musicmatch as I would like to see the album cover and a play list as well. The skin design can be a number of different sizes and shapes. I tried to figure out the design on SiliconIce's player to try to dress it up a little but it is beyond me to program. I can do web design and other art design projects but not programing....

hey, if you can come up with a good layout I'd gladly apply it to my player. Right now it's just utilitarian, but I haven't had any time to work on it much lately.
