xf86config for GCT? SuSE 7.0, Mandrake7.2 or 8.0?

I can successfully boot my GCT from a laptop HD installed with any of the above Linux distros, but haven't been able to successfully configure X.

I suspect part of that is some hardware recognition performed at install from the Compaq laptop I'm using, then not overwritten by the destination hardware.

I'm not (yet) concerned with enabling the touchscreen features, or squeezing the max possible resolution or color depth. I just want a running GUI with a familiar and complete distro.

Anyone have some guidance on this?

I cannot yet help, but I hope Wireless is still around. He and another guy have done quite a bit of work with using Linux on GCTP. I have been super busy, but have checked back from time to time and haven't seen an update from him. I'm now in the process of downloading the newest beta version of Redhat. 7.1 doesn't have the X11 4.10 stuff in it, so I didn't want to mess with it. I had problems with installation as well (kept getting error #11--which I now found out that the source data on the CD is messed).

So when I get a working version of a Linux distro (that supports my video card (ATI AIW Radeon), I'll be able to help you more. I'm leaning towards installing Midori though. I haven't hacked the touch pad enough to connect a hard drive. I wanted to just boot from the compact flash card then get the rest of the stuff from a networked application server. With a 32MB cf, I should be able to do that nicely.

Later--

You might want to check out the XF86Config file used in Midori. The video driver used is siliconmotion. You can download the X package and the mlz packages that Midori uses are just gzipped tar files.
