finally got around to pinning out cn15 its a printer port and ps/2 keyboard/mouse
but to use the kb/mouse you have to add a 8 pin resistor pack in rn33 above u27 (w78e52bf) and have to lift 4 pins on that chip 34-37 ..

The 8 pin resister pack, is that at RN33 ?? and what type of resister is that (1 ohm, 0 ohm, .5 ohm, etc) is it the same as the 4.72 ohm pack next to it at RN32 ?

Does lifting the four pins 34 - 37 disable the IR keyboard/mouse pointer.

I will see if I can make a 2mm cable header to connect the printer port and see what happens...

Definitely interested in this, Im getting sick of using the pointer on the kb and I dont want to shell out money for a usb mouse. Codeman always drops a tidbit of info and then dissappears. Codeman, on an unrelated note, We still dont have any clue as to how to get the I-OPENER bios to detect and use a TFT panel.

Well I tried the mod....

So far I have a keyboard'less GCT!!

Codeman are you out there?? HELP! I am pretty sure my wiring is good, I am a little red-eyed now but I will go back and check them. I used a resister pack from another dead GCT board and pulled pins 34-37, the only concern I have is that I may have damaged pin 38 a little but I believe it's ok.

I assumed pulling pins on the w78e52bf chip would disable the IR keyboard, at least everything else came back up, none of the smoke got out!

further updates will be provided as they occur.....

Double checked my cable and it's good;

On boot up the keyboard lights flash once but the number lock light never comes on and the keyboard is unresponsive.

Double checked my connection and tried another resister pack, a little progrees if you call it that as now the GCT reboots everytime a key is pressed (this could be useful if you are running a Microsoft OS as it's a lot easiier that pressing those three CtRl-Alt-Del keys LOL!).

I am going to work with this little more, I do believe I have the PS2 mouse port working, at least a USB optical mouse with a PS/2 adapter behaves correctly as it lights up and goes dim as it it should on a correctly working PS/2 but I can't confirm that until I get a OS loaded back.

I feeling a little under the weather today, I may call in sick and work on this today before I give up :)

Well I tried, I may try again later on a GCT that has a semi-bad screen or unless has a GCT that has something like a bad screen.

I believe I got carried away pulling pins on the w78e52bf chip as I realized later I hurt pin 38 on the chip and I would really like confirmation on the resister pack to use as I was using similer ones off a dead GCT board and if I could order the correct pack, I am sure I could solder it better rather than to recycle used ones (I found that my heat shrinking heat gun works really good at removing SMT componants!).

If anyone has a GCT with a bad screen I would like to make you an offer on the unit for further testing.

Email Me if you want to contact regarding this if you have a GCT w/t a bad screen, my profile email address is @Home and they are all but shut down.

I tried to make a printer port using this pinout but it doesn't work. I have double and triple-checked and come up empty. I think the pinout is wrong somehow.

Anyone got either parallel or ps2 working? I can't find any post confirming the pinout works.
"Your mouse has moved. You must now restart windows for the changes to take effect. [OK]"

parallel mode works... I just never got back to working on the PS/2 ports, until the GCT's get a little cheaper I had no reason to add the ports :)

Doing the PS/2 port mod will disable the wireless keyboard and mouse.
