It is SO sad for me to see such a great technology and so many $$$ invested going down the drain.
Perhaps I'm naive, but wouldn't it be possible to revive this project? as an opensource software linux internet appliance, based on the same hardware?
(I wonder who retains the rights to the hardware... or if it's so generic that perhaps it could be made by a 3rd party...)
I don't care what AOL/Netscape might think, but a GCT, with the current InstantAOL software (leaked as "gamera") + generic PPP support for 3rd party ISPs, and the latest Netscape 6.1 for linux (or the latest mozilla), + StarOffice 6.0 would be a GREAT device, much more powerful than the original...
One thing is certain in this article.... AOL and Gateway NEVER put they marketing muscle behind it. They should learn from the Micro$oft Menace...
