802.11b and MiniPCI
How To?

Okay, I took the plunge and took one of the GCTs off ebay. I need to (and will, eventually) get this thing working with my home 802.11b. Much as I like Midori, I think I will install a hard drive and install regular RH7 or maybe dualboot to WinME since that seems to work better according to some.

Anyway, I am now looking at 802.11b options. Obviously, I could go with a USB but that takes up room, adding a box to the sleek look of the GCT. So I prefer an internal option and noticed that Actiontec makes a MiniPCI 802.11b card --- http://www.actiontec.com/products/business/80211bminipci/80211bminipci_overview.html

Has anyone tried this? I assume MiniPCI is a specification like PCI, and that I should just be able to plug it in; assuming drivers are in the OS (which they should be, it uses a widely used chipset made by Interstil), right?

Are there other MiniPCI options?

And finally, any ideas on how to get my hands on one of these (I called Actiontec, but have not heard back from them). Anyone have contacts there or know of a distributor who will sell?

Thanks!!

By the way, I found a MiniPCI 802.11b card on Dell's site as an accessory for the C800 series laptop. It is $149. Still waiting for pricing from Actiontec. If I do not hear from them soon, I will just buy the Dell and hope it works.

One problem I have thought of is the antenna. These MiniPCI 802.11b cards are meant to use an internal laptop antenna; anyone know how to make such a thing for the GCT?

I feel sad, replying to my own messages!! Anyone else have ideas on how to do wifi on this thing without using an external USB device?

JSN
