Anyone do this successfully?

I got a HPNA version of the gateway device. I installed windows ME on it and got everything working. I got a Intel Pro/100 SP Combo adapter (Modem and Ethernet) and installed it. I connected the wire that was connected to the HPNA to the modem slot on the ether combo card. There is also a 14 pin male connector on the card and I am about 99.9% sure that it is for the ethernet, so the question is where do I get the cable to plug this 14 pin connector to the free 4 pin connector on the motherboard under the ethernet jack (if that is what is supposed to be connected) With out this cable I was able to install the adapter but fail to get a link light on my switch (tried multiple cables and ports, it is definitly the machine). Where can I get one of these cables and do u think it will fix my problem?

Did anyone ever figure out where to get this cable without making it yourself? I'm not that adept at making my own cables.

There are pins on the mini-pci socket that go to the RG45 ethernet plug, try a search in this section as a couple years back I believe I posted the exact pins; Have you tried a ethernet connection to the GCT after installing the new card? The mini-pci specs include lines for the eithernet so there is a possibility that you may not need a jumper.....

I also have a hpna version. I bought a mini-pci nic in hopes that it would work. It looks like a wire is needed to connect the card to the jack. I made a phone call to Dell's parts divison, just a few weeks ago, and asked them for a 4-pin to 14-pin mini-pci ethernet cable for an Inspirion 4000 laptop. Although I didn't buy it yet, they do have them in stock. They cost $15.

I then called Gateway and they told me that they don't carry those types of parts and that I was out of luck.

Alocurto-

Back in 2001, you posted the pinout for you mini-pci card and you went on to say how you yourself called up Dell and ordered the cable. You said that it "works like a charm". Either you have amnesia or I'm totally lost.
