Hello BigDog. I purchased your Gateway Connected Touchpad off of Ebay a few months ago. You sure did a quality job with the hacks/modifications. I love the blue drive light you installed.. So cool!

I am using the built-in NIC card to surf the web with Road Runner Cable modem. I have a couple of questions for you, I know this computer is certainly no speed demon, :) How much difference in speed will you get by adding addition memory? Is the difference enough to notice or make the upgrade even worthwhile?

I am basically looking for suggestions to make the computer run faster. Since you have probably allready gone through alot of this before, I thought I would ask you.

Was the hard drive you installed a laptop hard drive, right? And if so, do you recall the rpms? Is there any hard drive you know of that would be faster and still fit inside the case, and of course it has to be cost effective....

Anyhow, any advice or suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated.. I am very pleased with the computer and have used it quite a bit lately,--- actually my main machine is down right now, so this is my main machine for awhile!

Thanks Again...

The HD was a notebook drive, a Toshiba drive if I believe correctly and it's just a 5400 rpm drive I believe. More memory will help, if you add a 256mb SODIMM (16 chip design) that will add some speed. Also if you turn off system restore that will help too. Forgive me but I forgot what OS is installed (XP I believe?) if I recall this was the auction that MS gave me such a fit over since I showed it installed with XP...

you can email me if you want to contact me directly... My profile here shows my old @Home email address
