Hello,

I am getting ready to upgrade Windows XP pro for my WIN ME Gateway touchpad via through my network laptop share CD rom.

1. Can it be done this way?
2. Will I be able to see the speed increasement say 50% from ME to XP Pro?

Thanks

I don't use either OS, but here are a couple of threads of interest:

I think the main points are:
- you should really upgrade the SODIMM to 256mb
- there are no "working" touch screen drivers

Good luck!!

Have you tried this yet? Did it work? If you've already tried it, please post your results.

However, I dont't think it will work. It will start doing the upgrade through the network drive, but after it reboots, it still needs to find the CD and I don't think it loads network support after the reboot. If you've got a big enough hard drive, try copying the i386 folder from the CD to the hard drive. That way, after the reboot you might be able to specify the folder on the hard drive to finish installing.

Let us know what happens

Looking for help with Win XP Pro: I was running Win98se for a couple months with no problems at all. Upgraded to XP pro (no touchscreen yet) and continue to have problems with a code 12 error on the Ali PCI to USB host controller. About half the time it shows up in device manager with an exclamation point. Sometimes it shows up just fine. I have also uninstalled, reinstalled with no change in results. Any suggestions???
