Reviving Midori on sourceforge?

Hello,
Seeing as how the sourceforge page is dated august of 2001 and there has been no releases from the original group, i'm wondering
if it's possible to get it going again.

I know codeman and chaezwiz among others have developed images for the GCT, and i've seen other people building the images for the Compaq IA-1 and Iopener.

I'm interested in someone setting up a downloadable development environment which one can customize (add their own packages, take out others...whatever). I'd be interested in bringing the midori build environment back up to current speed (updating glibc so we don't have to compile on redhat 6.2 or whatever) so that almost any newer computer with a recent distro of linux can build midori. Also, updating all the packages would be nice too.

My interests lay in developing embedded-control software for control systems of robotics, i see no easy way to develop applications on the midori distro.

By the Way, i'm going to set up a midori beta 3 mirror of the kddlabs ftp server up pretty soon in case it ever goes down. When it is operational (should be around 1/13/02 or so), it will be accessible on http://www.umr.edu/~amlmr2/projects/gct/mirror.html

Regards,
Aaron

Hey,
If you look in the CVS on sourceforge, you'll see some updated apps for beta4. I've backported
the kernel and busybox packages to beta3 (I also submitted patches to kernel-dev to fix some mk712
  issues).
The reason you have to compile it on a rh6.2 system (or something similar) is because midori
does not correctly seperate the host OS from the cross-compiled OS. So it links some apps against
the host libs (bad!), thus, if you do get it to compile on a newer OS, it will fail on boot because
of the mismatched lib versions. So to fix this, you would have to delve into the scripts
  and figure out the probs.
You might try to checkout the CVS packages and try from that. They changed alot of the scripts
and there is an updated gcc and glibc (along with dietlibc).
Let me know if you need any help...

I am interested and working on a distribution for the EPIA-M board based off the VIA C3 processor. So far I've downloaded the Midori Beta 3 files again (I thought i was done working with Midori sometime ago so I dumped everything...silly me). I know there has been alot of activity mid October last year in the CVS, but things are still not ready for prime time there.

Chase, I know you've added quite a bit to the CF image you've released. I grabbed a few of the updates from your page, but the download deal doesn't work properly on phoenix or galeon...might check your code. I found a libmysql.mlz at the uclinux.org website (I believe), updated gcc (to 3.0.4) at the midori package archive site, as well as an updated busybox and binutils.

Anyone else working on updated packages?

Alot of the stuff in CVS is usable (minus gcc and glibc). You just have to backport the build
script for each package (usually getting rid of the download part). I know the kernel and busybox
  packages work.

Thats a real bummer about the downloads...I got away from my own code and went to geeklog trying to
  avoid browser issues. Oof....
