anyone working on a WinME image with something like 98lite? a 64MB CF is cheap and installing WinME (as opposed to 98lite for performance reasons outlined in other threads) would work perfect
I have a 98lite image (Based on Win98 not ME) running on both 256 and 128 MB CFs. 64MB (With DriveSpace) may work, but that would be a little tight to do anything useful (IMO). My base lite images are ~ 100MB, not sure if ME would make them larger or smaller.
I have 98lite running on my Virgin Webplayer 48mb DOC with no problems so it should be ok on a 64mb card.
My webplayer has an internal mini-NIC, and runs Winamp-Lite and K-Meleon web browser. That's it. Nice and lean.
I'd like to do the same with my Gateway (which currently has two 20GB IBM Travelstars and full WinME). I want to put those drives into an old desktop machine and make the Gateway a touchscreen mp3 workstation.
What programs are you running on your CF image and could you make me a copy if I sent you a CF card?
I have all the basic drivers, and a wireless nic, IE 6, WinAmp, and some oher misc utils. We could prob work something out with the CF image, email me.
FYI to those who have sent me email requesting images etc...
I am not blowing you off, Im just on vacation this week, and have limited net access (checking email via my cell phone, too painful to reply ). I'll get back to you guys this weekend when I get back home.
What is the smallest anyone has been able to get a WinME image down to? Mine is at 500MB and I'm wondering if it can really get onto a 256MB compact flash.
I have a pretty full Win98 into a 64MB flash using drivespace. I still have about 10MB free. I used a 98lite with a 340MB microdrive for developing the image, and then Ghosted it to the 64MB CF.
Anybody get WinXP installed in a 340MB microdrive?
