Intact IDE connector and some other questions

To begin with, this Board is really a great resource for internet appliance hacking!

Now to me:
I think i have got the GCT HPNA version that is not for resale, i found a 44 pin connecter C12 near the
Compact Flash and BIOS, it semes to be intact.

I am sorry for the bad quality, i only use eyemodule2 for handspring visor.

My question now: Is the 44 pin C12 the intact IDE conenctor from the not for resale version that can be used for a 2,5 notebook hard drive? If yes, i had to connect an ordinary 44 pin notebook hdd with an standard 44 pin cable and the connector oboard.
I
f no than i had to remove the compact flash card, to buy a special cable from badflash - which? and connect this to 2,5 hdd and the compact flash?

I know compact flash and ide are compatible but works the gct compact flash in true ide mode?.I know some digital cameras with compact flash memory and the manufacturer do not use true ide but rather the memory-mapped modus and there you can not connect a hdd.

Other question, i know there is a miniPCI connector onboard, can i use a minpci wlan like
"ATHEROS Mini Pci 802.11b/g (2.4 Ghz) SUPER-G 108 Mbit Wireless Lan Adapter" in the gct?

Are there any other german gct hackers?

IDE cable - Yes, use a "reversed" cable like what Badflash offers and yes, standard 2.5 notebook drives are what you are looking for; I have seen very few not work, I have used Toshibas and IBM drives with no issue. To boot from HD you must remove the CF.

The Mini PCI is standard, I have used a varety of card from ethernet to wireless; While I can't say for sure I would expect the Atheros mini pci card to work fine.

The CF interface is direct IDE, it's not hot swappable but works fine including also using 1gb IBM microdrives.

Congrats on obtaining a prototype GCT, chances are you can enter the cmos setup on yours, which you can't do on the standard GCT's. If I recall correctly I believe it's just using the ESC key suring boot to select it from the boot menu, do a search for CMOS setup in this section.

I read the posts about the GCT Bios, i can skip the Gatewaylogo - the boot messages prompted up and the last line say "Pres F2 to enter Setup" but when i press F2 nothing happens - a few seconds later the GCT will boot up the Midori System. I use the Silitek SK-7100, tried some other keys and combinations but nothing happens :/
How to get into the BIOS?

What mean reversed ide cable? I bought a few days ago a cable from the only seller in germany, a "standard" 44pin ide cable, what is the different from mine cable to the the reversed cable from badflash?

Where can i downlowd the midori image and drivers, http://gct2.leeandjennifer.com:8080/ and the other leeandjennifer.com do not work for me, the freedrive space with the GCT driver do not work too.
regards

The GCT and i-Opener's IDE use a special 44 pin cable were every other line is switched (reversed), Check http://www.badflash.com and he can fix you up with the cable that is necessary or you can get another 44pin 2mm header install right next to one of the existing end so that you get someting looking like this:

BadFlash's Double Ended cable

Connect the cable using the center two rows of the four to the IDE header on the mainboard.

The keystroke timing to get into the bios is a little tricky, but if you are getting the prompt then that's all it takes.
