| I just finished getting 98SE installed, all the hardware working and a few programs installed. I put the CF card in a CF to IDE adapter and installed on a different computer from CD-ROM. Then I deleted all the hardware in device manager, shut down, then put the card in the GCT after putting all the driver cabs from Windows and the GCT drivers on the card with a third computer and also deleted a bunch of unwanted Windows stuff. I booted it and ran the "Find New Hardware" wizard. I also have put an Intel Pro 100 mini-pci NIC in and took HPNA out. The NIC came from a ThinkPad. Hopefully I can squeeze an AppleWorks 6 installation on it or I might have to buy a bigger card. Yes, AppleWorks exists for Windows, it's only about 30Mb installed and gives you some light productivity capability. I left IE and installed IrfanView, WinAmp and RealAlternative/Media Player Classic. I was really suprised with the speakers. I tried a 2.2Gb CF Type II Microdrive and a PIO 1Gb CF and neither would boot. It seems SanDisk is the way to go. Now I have run Cat5 into the kitchen. I'll make a Ghost image when I am done. | |
