Hmmmm, Anybody gotten The AOL re-initialization screen yet?

Okay, I thought I made it into the BIOS, because I got a black screen with text but it turns out it sez:

AOL will now re-initialize your machine.

please enter your area code:

with a blinking cursor..

Probably just a reset, but I dunno how I even made it there, I just mashed all the keys at boot-up. Any ideas?

Hmm Keyboard also responds weird in this screen,

The Instant aol keys thru - Family are mapped as , ^[[[A , ^[[[B , ^[[[C, etc. and the rest Buddy list - AOL channels are mapped as ~^[[18, to ~^[[24 .

what the hell do those keys mean?? Interestingly the other function keys appear to be combinations like those above

Home, PgUp, PgDn, etc. are also ^[[, etc.

Did you let it have a phone line to dial out?

Nope, I figured it would just open a connection to aol and receive a reboot and initialize code or sumpthing.

I used my friends AOL name and password, It dials out fine. Recieves numbers, hangs up, then you select the new dial out numbers. After that it looks just like AOL 4.0. Here is an interesting note, when you do everything, and can go online and surf its fine. Unplug it for 1 minute, and plug it back in, everything resets! Like it doesn't even write to the SanDisk. You have to start out all over, with the "touch the (x) to cal. the screen," etc. Also, when you are at the GateWay Boot screen, mash, and mash keys and it hangs for a moment, then boots to AOL.

On the gateway FAQ page for this thing (forget where it is) it says you _have_ to leave the device ON ALL THE TIME. States it will forget your settings if you don't. Any company that teams with AOL seems to lose a few IQ points.

So easy, no wonder it's number 1. Or number 2. Whatever.

The "What's that?" connecter from your website is the network RG45 connecter that some mini-PCI cards require, apparently not required on some cards?

The GTC's that have straight-up ethernet adapters should be using that connecter.
