Ordered one GCT over the phone on May 5th (i believe) and got a mouse & extra 5 stylus (or styli, or whatever the plural is) for 262 shipped. Today i have an answering machine message from Kay at Gateway, " you are a valued customer, blah blah blah, unexpected delay, blah blah blah"
And then, "If you would like to cancel your order you can do so at 1-888..."
I assume that we simply rifled through there ready to ship stock (either here or Taiwan) and they are just a bit delayed. I hope they aren't taking any "last minute precautions" to prevent us from adding the ide header pins or whatever else they might have dreamed up.
Im pretty sure i called in my order relatively early (before any client id's were posted on the boards here) so i was wondering if others had gotten the call, too.

They originally said I would revceive product on May 12th, now they said it should be in by May 24th (i couldnt interpret whether this meant "in my house" or "in Gateway distribution's hands." With all the odd UPS tracking stuff i was reading, i didnt even call to check on shipping and the web tracking didnt work for me either.

Anyway, not only will i NOT cancel my order, now im thinking about calling and insisting they refund part of that shipping since im waiting a helluva lot longer than first quoted.

I got similar call this a.m. Hubby took call. This is the first unit I ordered very early. Last week when I called about the two separate orders I was told that this one, the first one ordered, would be delayed because, " it didn't pass check and was being rebuilt." Yea right!!! She told hubby it would be about two weeks. I'll call in next day or so about shipping. Probably won't get a reduction, though, as shipping was quoted as $20.

Second unit ordered, about 8 hours later, arrived on Thursday, in mass drop shipment #2.

I would not put too much trust in their knowledge of where their inventory is. I placed an order last week. It was scheduled to be delivered on the 10th. I called and wanted to make a change to the order. They said it was too late, but it showed not being "built" until the 10th (I called on the 8th). Guess what, it showed up delivered a day early on the 9th.

i definitely have no faith in gateway's inventory and order management system...i ordered my system a couple days ago but the lady had to holdoff on charging me until the next morning for some reason...so i get online with the crappy chat support and ask if the order went through OK...the person i chatted with said she couldn't bring up that info for at least 48 hours

i said all i wanted to know was if the order went through, nothing else, no shipping status, no part changes, just if it went through or not...she said i would have to wait at least 48 hours...so i asked what i do if i wait two days and it still hasn't gone through...do i wait another 48 hours extending this process by at least 4 days?

i asked if orders went into a mysterious limbo for 48 hours where absolutely no one had access to ANY of the information...she said yes...WTF is that?

i remember when gateway used to be a responsive, customer service oriented company...ah well...the good ole days...
