Hey Wordsmith,
What did ME say that the modem model and type is? I tried to get mine operational tonight and it doesn't seem to see it. I have the ethernet version and I had to file down the edge of the card to get the ide connector on without having to cut the IDE connector. I'm hoping I didn't f-up the modem card as its a good backup if your network goes down for any reason.

OK, I have the same version you have but I don't understand why everyone is filing down their cards. Why not take a risk filing something down you can easily reorder? I.E. Cable. Thats what I did and it works fine. Anyway back to you Q;

Standerd Modem on COM1

I actually havn't used the modem because I just use this puppy to link up to my server on my network so I can do different things for school on the go. Now I'm tring to get BSD on my GCT but its not liking the display for some reason.

Thanks Wordsmith..

I had tried to get ME to detect it and it didn't so I figured I blew something, but it works fine. I'm glad I went ahead and got the nic card though! And to think,I used to use a dailup connection.. ACK MOO! Long live broadband connections!!! Now all I have to do is figure out the touchscreen calibration and the new car system is almost set.

Thats cool dude! Well here is comes, I like the touchscreen, but I don't. Its funny because unless you'r tapping the dead center(also going up/down of the center area) of the screen, the pointer ends offset out the point of touch. I.E. Left side, pointer appears to the left of the point of depression on the screen. And vise versa. Anyone have this problem also?

no, what you describe is probably a result of bad calibration.
One problem I do have is that if you don't lift it straight up once you're done clicking, it jumps to right of the screen !

I had the same problem even after calibrating the screen (or so I thought) from the control panel. I found out this morning that you have to use the program itself to enable the calibration and then the pointer isn't 1/8 an inch, or more, off to the left on the left side and the same on the right side. I have even gotten it to double tap, but its not 100% yet. Still working on the calibration and the sensitivity settings. The screen is kinda quirky at doing dragging and dropping, but it looks like its going to be settings and sensitivity that might get this fixed. Sure isn't as easy to calibrate like the ePods is.

Guess i'm actually gonna to have to read some more manuals!!

Strange claibration from the control pannel does work for me, i.e. I've seen the difference before/after calibrating. For some reason, I can't get the program calibration to work very well !

Well I fudged it now. I accidently deleted the modem profile and I can't get it back. I tried what I did last time and it can find it at all. I also tried the drivers at freedrive and they installed, but when I select Com 1 and click OK, it doesn't seem to hold. When I try to sign online it makes my select the com port its at everytime. Even when I do that, I get a mesage
'The modem or a program using the modem if busy, please try again in a few minutes'

Any Ideas Clueless? How did you get ME to find it.

In Device Manager, Delete All Modems.
Back in Control Panel, Use the Modem Applet.
Remove All Modems from here.
If You can't get this to Work, Try Shutting Down & Rebooting !
You are Never Done Installing anything in WinDose, till You have Powered Down, & Rebooted.

To Test, Use the Diagnostics Tab, select Modem, & Click on "More Info" button.
If You get ATI responces from the Modem, It is Working.
Good Luck, * StarFish *

Thank you * StarFish *. That was my problem, I would install the different types of drivers(windows, other) but it couldn't find the correct Com port. I HAD TO REBOOT. Then it was all beter. I hated having everything working except for the modem. hehe.

Thank You.
