Some ideas from a newbie.
After reading all the posts, I am starting to formulate a plan

Okay, I just purchased one of these units from ebay, based on information I have read here. I must congratulate you all on the effort you put in to hacking this system.

Once I recieve the unit, I plan to do the following:

Add a vga port-I could not find a DEFINITIVE post for this here, any takers?

Add a PS2 port-Has anyone done this with a PS2 port that attaches to the header on old AT motherboards?

Load windows98-i am planning to use 98lite, has anyone done this?

See if I can get the IR keyboard/remote to work-I saw people working on this any updates?

I could not find any information on the TV tuner, is there a chipset it uses? Is there a driver?. Has anyone had any luck with getting it to work under win98? My idea is to install win98SE and then use the webtv software to get my listings if I can find a WDM driver for the tuner section.

Now, barring any of this, has anyone got the included OS to work with a non-AOL ISP? Have they got it to work over a USB to CAT5 network(like cablemodem/dsl through a router?

I had an Idea with the keyboard however, perhaps the new compact keyboards for PocketPC's that transmit through the IR port on the PDA may offer a solution. The IR port on the PDA is serial...dunno...

Yes on the VGA
Yes on the PS2, keyboard only. If using an AT, big header, cable, make sure you check the pinouts.
Win98 is a perhaps. It runs on some and not others. Although only 8 Megs or RAM and not easily upgradeable. Not very good with Win98.
IR devices are not working yet. Some work has been done on this, but nothing yet.
I'm not in front of the unit now, so forgot the tuner chip.
Can get the tuner working with the included software, but have not been able to get the included OS to work with a non-AOL ISP yet.
In the system configs, there is a setting for network, but I don't think that the drivers were loaded. USB Nic doesn't work, and I have tried a PCI NIC with no luck with the included OS. Both USB and PCI are working fine in a different OS though.

Hope this helps.

Welcome aboard.

>Add a PS2 port-Has anyone done this with a PS2 port that attaches to the header on old AT motherboards?
Yes, I used one that was for a mouse but moved the pins to the correct location in the connector.

Tried the following wireless keyboards under DOS, Allwell 1030N, AolTV, Audrey without any luck. Must be a driver issue to enable the IR port.
