May 11, "New Net Device Easy to Use, but Hard to Sell," By COURTNEY KANE

Article ends: "An engineer recently posted on a Web site instructions for tweaking the i-Opener hardware so that it could work as a full-fledged PC. Since then, said Munira Fareed, the marketing director at Netpliance, the company closed the loophole that allowed people to make the changes.

"But the company can learn from the skills of the 'modifier.'

"'We think we can get some great R&D from this,' Mr. Cobb said."

[And maybe they can learn how not to run a business.]

New MessageRE:NY Times touts iOpener (modified 0 times) correction dept.
Good morning, this is the correction department. We read minds and then correct:

"We think we can get some great [free] R&D from this {since our engineers have all been fired over this hacker dodging we have been doing]"

If you find this correction incorrect, just think that thought, we will pick it up and correct it again. If you get a thought in your head, it might be a correction, so post it.

The NY Times wasted a lot print talking about how to advertising the thing, and a lot less about what it can do/it is like. BMs
