Just bought mine at Circuit City in NJ

New MessageJust bought mine at Circuit City in NJ (modified 0 times) lonely_dude
Hey all,

Been watching this site for a while, and I couldn't get an I-opener way back when
the $#!+ first hit the net, but I am happy to say that I just picked up mine
today at Circuit City in Ledgewood, NJ. I'm pretty sure its a V4 but I haven't gotten
it completely apart yet to see (need to get a security torx for the weird screws)

It was $99 and I didn't have to sign anything, I paid in cash. When the dude asked me
for my name and address I was caught off guard and gave him the real info, but I don't
think it'll be a problem.

Anybody else pick one up lately?

just wanted to add that I did not pre-order or anything
I just walked in, asked if they had one, which they did
(exactly one), and walked out with it. Graduation money
came in handy :)

I ordered one on the internet in MIDDLETOWN, NY. The order was confirmed so I drove 60 miles (closest one) to pick it up and the %&$#@*^ wouldn't sell it to me. They said there was 2 in stock but they were being "recalled". Then to top it off the bastards wouldn't credit my credit card. What I would like to know is shouldn't the policies be the same for all the stores, or is NY the only place they follow instructions???

Sorry to hear about your experience.

I can offer a couple data points which may help.

Last week I stopped at one CC store and asked if they had any -- open box, unclaimed, returned. The person I spoke to said that these were all "sent back to the company".

Over the weekend I ordered one via the web. When I picked it up today, I noticed that they swiped the credit card. I remarked that apparently they didn't charge the card until it was picked up. The clerk said no, that the card had been charged at the time of the order and they were just verifying it.

You certainly should be entitled to a refund. I would suggest calling customer service and/or talking to a manager. If that doesn't work, call your credit card company, explain what happened and that you never got the merchandise. They will probably reverse the charges right away.

I don't think that they are actually being recalled. Maybe they sold yours to someone else and didn't want to admit it. When I first tried to order one over the web, I requested "back in stock" notifications from a couple stores. This morning I got e-mail advising me that these stores had them in stock. Of course, they are gone by now.

On the contrary "fight_back. It was there on the belt and I was looking at it. When another sales associate saw it the 2 of them started whispering then the manager walked over and told me they couldn't sell it to me. They acted like I was gonna shoot missiles at Canada with it. WHO KNOWS

Sorry for the double posting.

When I said maybe they had been "sold" to someone else, I had in mind the possibility that a CC employee had earmarked them for him/herself or a friend and customers were being told they were recalled.

Here in California, you can still find stores on the CC web page that have them in stock. These are usually in more remote areas. In urban areas, they get ordered as fast as they appear on the web.

Good luck.
