Here is a scoop!!
From my inside CompUSA source, I am not telling... :)

CompUSA has cancelled carrying the I-Opener.
Here are some of the reasons:
- All the customers that pre-paided.
- The change of Term Of Service (TOS).
- The refunds to the customers that pre-paided.
- The legal agreements (Forcing customers to sign TOS before pickup.) that had to be made between CompUSA and Netpliance before they would get their shipments.
- The over population of I-Openers that cause their $21.95/mo ISP to choke.

Perhaps you could goto CompUSA and get them for a song. :)
I have just purchased 3 I-Openers. :)

I do not think Netpliance is going to last much longer.

Um, perhaps CompUSA will give up on the i-opener, but your stated reasons sound doubtful at best. Example: "over population of I-Openers that cause their $21.95/mo ISP to choke"?? C'mon... Netpliance reports only 20,000 subscribers so far, hardly an amount that would cause any ISP to "choke." The rest of your reasons sound fairly convoluted too, as if you aren't too sure yourself about things yourself. Are you an adult? Thanks,
Randy

The whole idea behind the I-Opener was to provide a device with dedicaded services to the user. Just think for a minute. If you were a new company trying to make it. And to be profitable, you had to charge your customers $21.95/mo where there are plenty of service providers who are cheaper(AOL). The higher cost would relate to profitable, the cost of business to provide the service. Which in turn would be cheaper if they had a good infrastructure. Now, I was told by CompUSA that I-Opener customers were experiancing loss of services. And for a device thats main function is to surf the web and e-mail, that sounds like "Choke!!" to me. Considering I have worked for CompUSA in the pass, and it would not surpise me, currently employed by a nationwide ISP.

All this is just information. If your going to take it personal, then seek help.

Not really surprised, they never were much behind it anyway. Unfortunately if it is indeed true, then NPLI is in even deeper merde than they were before. Let's see now without the retail channels they are selling a $400 piece of hardware to get on the interrnet, and the only way you can get it is to be on the net to begin with so you can order it from their site... There is an expression for business plans like this: "VJ"

Wow, you really don't know what you're talking about. AOL charges $21.95/month, just like Netpliance.

Randy, that is called sarcasm. Get a dictionary and read about it. In other words, "Get a clue." : P

And for the rest of us, since Randy seem to know alot about AOL, he must be using it. hehehehe
