ok its a $650 CE Machine, but the hardware seems to be well made still have to void the warranty and open it up, the software works well the page rendering is a little SLOW but the download speed it right on.

I downloaded some CE programs and most worked HUM mp3 player worked well the sound is good.

i will add a complete review in the next few days , over all it seems so far to be a good setup

I just got mine too and it's rather cool. The problem is loading stuff to it. I have the drivers for my wavelan wireless card (the thing that will make or break the product IMHO). I can't seem to figure out how to load them from my win98 machine to the epod. I can stick the code on a CFram module but can't execute it on either the win98 machine or the epod.

I tried ActiveSync from Microsoft but that couldn't seem to connect.

Can you post some hints, etc...

thx,
bobm

well i hate to say it but i looks like they crippled the machine by not letting you add software to it 8(
there should be a file in there 'wceload' that will install downloaded files its a standard wince file but i guess they removed it ! now that really sux !!!

this is off the epods web page

"Does the ePodsOne have any computer functionality?
The ePodsOne uses Windows CE, the popular Microsoft® operating system for handheld computers, and includes word processing with Microsoft® Pocket Word."

they sure make it sound like you can add other ce software or is that just me

but i did get the HUM mp3 player working on it just copied it to a cf card and it worked fine

o ya the browser is SLOWWWW !!

Well, I can get software into the machine with a compact flash memory card. I just can't execute anything so far. However I've tried is the wavelan driver stuff. I'll go grab something from the net and see what happens there. I also have an old Phenom handheld (2.1 OS I think) so I have a disk somewhere for it.

I'll let the group know if I make any progress.

It has the potential of being very nice if we can get past the dialup connectivity.

Not to criticize, but how is this thing any different/better than say any of these WinCE machines with a with a wireless network card stuff in?

Hitachi 600 Windows CE Color Tablet
HP Jornada 820
Sharp Mobilon TriPad PV-6000

Quick review here: http://www.pdabuyersguide.com/hpcpro.htm

What's it about the epods that has caught your interest?

I had some problems with this at first as well.
I don't have a USB cable so I used a serial null modem cable.
You need to use the pc link, which is under communications --> program files
the serial config on the epods, by default is
Baud Rate 19200
Data Bits - 8
Parity - None
Stop Bits 1
Flow Control - Hardware

Make sure your PC matches these. Start the connection on the Epods, and Active Sync should connect on its own.
Hope this helps.....
