Bulletin!

1) Netpliance lowers the price of the i-opener from $399 to $299. (Of course we're still not down to that rock-bottom $99 price point again, but this is a move in the right direction at least, lol.)

2) There is no longer any Terms of Service which mandates an internet service contract. In other words, you can buy one of the puppies from Netpliance directly, or from a retail store, and nobody asks or cares if you will sign up for the $21.95 monthly ISP.

3) Netpliance i-openers will soon be back in stock at both Circuit City and CompUSA at the $299 price point.

Anyone have thoughts about this?

Randy

I smell another fiasco in the mix. There is an overhang of unfilled pre-orders at CC at the $99 price. Now, I know that this "isn't the same product" since it is THE NEW IMPROVED I-OPENER 2001 SERIVCE THAT GIVES YOU (YES BOYS AND GIRLS) MORE THAN ONE (COUNT EM IF YOU CAN) EMAIL ACCOUNT, etc, but this is a feature of the software offering which they are not bundling with their hardware. Since the hardware is most likely unchanged, there is still a reasonable claim to CC having to fill the back orders at the $99 price. I am glad that the company is moving the price point down a bit, I suspect that they may survive longer that way. INHO, a $200 price point would have been better for them, but then again, who am I to tell them.
