I purchased the "demo" Iopener from cc for 50$. Great price but it did not come with a power adapter. I thought that it would not be a big deal so I went to Radio Shack and bought an 18v adapter. Didn't work, no power light, nothing. I have a universal 12v that I tried that will let the power light come on but thats it. The screen won't even flicker. Does anyone know what I can do to make the thing work? I heard about a guy that ran his on 12v but don't know how he did it. Is my Iopener bad? I understand that the device has a current min and max circuit built in. What is the min voltage this thing wants from me? Already built the cable myself and modified a heat-sink and fan to work on it, but no good if it won't even power up. Please help me out.thanks in advance.

Check the current rating of the power supplies. Usually, the adapters are less than 1A which is too low to run the I-Opener. The adapters also may not be very well regulated. I've had the same problem mixing adapters with old laptops. If you have an adapter for your car cigarette lighter, try it on your I-Opener. I've ran the I-Opener on 12V lead-acid batteries before. If it doesn't run off your car battery, you may have something wrong with the I-Opener itself.

I exchanged my io a while back, but forgot to put in my power adapter. So now I have two. I'll sell you one for $20 plus shipping. email alcuin@bigfoot.com.

Beware, we had the same prob with a cc demo model. We used an actual i/o power supply and still nothing. We ended up returning the unit as it would not power up. It might have something top do with "demo" mode?

I bought the demo at CC also, which was working at the store. I didn't have any problems with it and now it is being used as an additional PC.

I got it to power up using my cigarette lighter plug in my car. Really exciting to see if actually power up. Now going to purchase4 more demo's from surrounding CC's for yes, 50$ a pop. Heading to computer show this weekend to buy some laptop hard drives. Anyone know were i can get one of those ide adapters to hook the laptop drive up to my home pc so I can program the thing? Been looking and still no luck.
