There's a new internet appliance being advertised via infomercials with actor Judd Hirsch as spokesman. It's called the "Netmachine", and the details can be seen here:
http://www.netmachine.com
In a nutshell, it's a unit similar to the i-opener, with its operating system stored on 16 megabyte flashdisk, no hard drive, instant-on, 15 inch monitor at 800 x 600 (SVGA) resolution. You can buy the unit outright for $299 plus $50 shipping. Or you can agree to an internet service contract of $21.95 per month for 36 months, and the unit is supplied without extra charge. No one's seen the motherboard yet, so no word on if it is easily modified by third parties.
