I-Openers at CC $200, No TOS
They're Back!

Circuit City just dropped the I-Opener price to $199 and I may be able to get the $100 rebate too. CC Customer service wrote me and said yes, they would honor the $100 rebate. I am sure they will not, but it is worth a shot. These are V5's and no goop.

Hi,
Could you please email me a copy of that form, I picked up an I-Opener at $199 this Saturday and couldn't find the form. That or could you tell me where the heck it is? If it's not valid for a sale today, sigh I'll likely return it

Thanks

Sorry for the false alarm. When the rebate was offered it was still at $299. The coupon did expire Dec 2. So the price is $199, but it is without a TOS. Hey $200 for a V5 is pretty good. I just got a supply of cheap 174MB drives I'm going to try in this one. I am pretty sure I can get Win95 loaded on it. Put in a K6-III+ and a fan you can have a web browser running at 250Mhz for under $300 with NO SOLDERING. Basically a fast I-Opener that you can use any ISP on.

with k6clk you should be able to go a bit higher without changing the FSB.. or is the 2.0 volts causing too much current?

Mine shuts down after about an hour at 300 Mhz, but 250 is pretty quick with the K6-III+. I'm just trying to give hope to the soldering impared that pretty good performance is available without doing anything but adding parts and switching switches. A k6-III+ at 250 is moore than twice as fast as a rise 266.

CompUSA has 'em in quantity in all locations also, @ $199 with no TOS. These are in the fancy new "i-opener 2001 Membership Kit" boxes. I don't know which version machine is inside, the datecode sticker on the box says 2000/08/21. My curiosity is getting the best of me, guess I'll pick one up tomorrow and order a MOD3 kit and Lasagna fan.

Anyone else think the price of these will drop like a rock after Christmas? I'd expect it to go down to at least $150.
