Have a look at Sony's new wireless appliance. This is a Japanese site so unless you are fluent in Japanese you will have to settle for just looking at the pictures.

http://www.sony.co.jp/sd/airboard/index.html

I'll be adding a new folder to my picture pages with some external and internal shots.

The link between base station and the hand held unit is 802.11b. The base station has a 56K modem (sorry no broadband connection), TV antenna connection, and audio/video RCA jacks. The display unit takes a memory stick and has a 800 x 600 TFT touch screen display along with external keyboard and headphone jack.

You can watch TV or a DVD while surfing the net and sending email from any place in your house without any wires. You can set it up for your own ISP too (Phone #, DNS,POP3,STMP can all be changed).

Turbo,

Looks cool, can't wait to get info in english. The start-up page shows possible areas where you might use this thing, including the bathroom (cute little toilet). A magazine normally suffices there, give me a wireless webpad and the family will never get me out....

They had it on display @ CES, so it will probably make its way here this year.

Finaly,a product from Japan! With those RCA audio/video jacks we Musicians might have found the holy grail. I'm sure you guys will give us a spec. review, wont you? Yamaha is planning something in the near future,so don't fret if this Sony does not workout.

Range is very poor on the AirBoard at about 30 feet (range is more like Bluetooth than 802.11b). TV picture quality is not that great either. The battery it comes with is rated at 1 hour (their clocks must run very slow in Japan, 30-45 minutes is more like it). You pretty much need to be in the same room as the base unit or on a floor directly above or below it.
