Office Max has the I/O Magic "Mobilescan" Fully portable USB color scanner on clearance for $59.00 Reg price $129.00
Here are some details,
Optical resolution 300x600 dpi
Max res 9600x9600 dpi
Battery pack NiMH 4.8v, 1200mah with charger. (Hmmmm run that GPS receiver with this battery pack using ps/2 power adapter)
Xerox textbridge OCR, MGI Photosuite.

I realize it's not the latest and greatest but it works in a pinch...
